The NIH Director's Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series
The long range goal of our laboratory is to understand the computational resources of brains from the biophysical to the systems levels. The central issues being addressed are how sensory information is represented in visual cortex, how memory representations are formed, and how visuo-motor transformations are adaptively organized. Network models based on the visual representation of motion, depth and space in the cerebral cortex are being explored. A major research effort in the laboratory is also devoted to studying the biophysics of synaptic integration and spike initiation using whole-cell patch recording, optical recording, and modeling techniques.
