Description:	NIH Director's Seminar Series More than a quarter of the world’s population is at annual risk of infection with flaviviruses, which include West Nile virus, Zika virus, dengue virus, yellow fever virus and tick-borne encephalitis virus. Despite being closely related, these viruses have evolved different mechanisms to evade the type I interferon response. This seminar will discuss two distinct interactions between various flaviviruses and human interferon signaling pathways. These two studies provide new insight into regulation of interferon signaling through the IFNAR receptor, as well as the antiviral functions of the interferon response that may contribute to flavivirus evolution and emergence.
