Dr. Kuriyan is a Chancellor's Professor in the UC Berkeley departments of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) and Chemistry, as well as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. His lab studies the mechanisms, evolution, and structures of the molecular switches that carry out cellular signal transduction. They use biochemical, biophysical, structural, and cell biological analyses to elucidate mechanisms and to determine how these mechanisms change with evolution. br>
