Her clinical specialty is infectious diseases. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she has followed and consulted on the COVID disease progression among the NIH's special patient population. Dr. Ghedin is chief of the Systems Genomics Section in the NIAID Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases. Recruited to the NIH from New York University in 2020, Ghedin employs a systems biology approach to understand how pathogens adapt to their hosts and what are the evolutionary bases of such adaptation.
